rocky-sullivan asked: my grandmother is a french survivor and, whenever she has gone back to the hiding places of her experiences, she always ends up telling jokes and funny stories to whoever is around her. she went through some extremely tough times with her brother fighting in the french resistance and her older sister having to hide because she was born on Poland and the Nazis were deporting any Polish-born Jews....

talkingtocactus-deactivated2011 asked: more a reply than a question... i went to auschwitz a few years ago. it was about 32'c outside but as soon as i went onto the grounds it was eerily cold, despite technically still being outdoors. it's a very sobering place.

toliveandride-deactivated201104 asked: Both my parents grew up in Croatia. They've both taken trips to see Jasenovac and Auschwitz. My mom said that when they finally arrived at Auschwitz and got off the train, there was an eerie stillness in the air. One of those feelings on the back of your neck that you can't explain. She said that "no birds sang there".

Just some insight.

Hitler Youth Fighting In Normandy
Klaus Shuh and Otto Funk were born in 1926. When Hitler came to power, like most boys their age, they joined the Hitler Youth. When some boys were off being hipster with the Edelweiss Pirates, Shuh and Funk were on the Western Front with a special SS unit in the summer of 1944. The young soldiers ranged in ages of 15 to 18. Shuh, in the middle, receives his Iron Cross with a group of SS Hitler...

On January 30, 1933, Adolf Hitler became the Chancellor of Germany. Fast forward to the 10th anniversary celebration… After enduring the London Blitz, the ongoing threat of Luftwaffe bombings, and years of total war, the British RAF sent Hitler a gift to commemorate the occasion. January 30, 1943 was supposed to be a big day for the Nazi propaganda machine, but instead the German...
